Assigned Entry #2

I've been sitting on youtube for an hour looking through and trying to find a video to use for this blog.  I was looking for a specific video to where a man is sitting on an airplane and just landed back home and turns on the heater in his car from his phone.  Every time is see this commercial I amazed to see that this technology exits.  I couldn't remember the brand of the car so it was a dead end for me trying to find this video.  Then my brother comes in and I ask him about this commercial and the reason why I was looking for it.  He tells me he hasn't see the commercial but he decides to show me a video of this new technology.  Before I tell you my thoughts on this video, it must be watched.

My first thought of this new technology was wow!  Every time a new technology is presented I always think could they think of anything better and it seems that the answer to that would be yes every time.  How do we keep up?  Once we start getting used to a new technology it seems that something newer and better is coming out.  One thing that stood out to me the most about this new technology is that it can do so many different things.  One example is that it can be used inside the classroom to change slides or zoom in on something that you are showing on the screen.  Just that would minimize the time dealing with going to the computer to change the slide or zoom in and increase teaching time.  This technology will eventually change the way we use the technology we have now.  It makes me wonder how beneficial this technology can be.  I guess I will get to see, since my brother has already pre-ordered it.

Assigned Entry #1: Blogs!

First and foremost, writing is not my thing.  As long as I can remember I have never been one to enjoy writing.  It was like pulling teeth for me.  I have always enjoyed math and science a lot more.  Blogs however are a lot less torturous for me.  Blogs allow you a little more freedom. They are not as rigid as writing an essay.  With essays or reports, there are requirements such as format, length, and topic.  Blogs allow you to put a little bit of your personality in it and allow you more freedom. Being able to have that freedom makes me a little more comfortable with writing.

One thing I do enjoy is reading.  After reading through some of these blogs and other ones that I have stumbled across, I've become really fascinated with the blogs and the people who write them.  Some of the blogs are so creative and even just the layout makes them very interesting. One of the blogs I really enjoyed reading was the The Everywherist ( http://www.everywhereist.com/ ).  This blog is written by a lady named Geraldine DeRuiter, who after got laid off from her job joined her husband on his trips to many different towns.  What I enjoyed about her blog is that it is not very typical.  She writes about random things that not everybody would write about when explaining their travels with their husband.  Another blog I enjoyed was The Big Picture ( http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/ ).  What I enjoyed about this blog is that it is a photo blog.  When I read something, I always try to put a picture in my head of what is being described.  This blog however is the opposite.  This blog is a photo blog and  it has some beautiful and interesting pictures that are so captivating that make me want to travel to those places in the pictures. However, the blogs that I did not enjoy were the corporate blogs.  They were very straight forward and kind of dry in my opinion, such as the Wal-Mart blog.
